The Glacier at La Grave

La Grave is a glacier south of Grenoble near the famous ski resorts of Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes. It's height and sheer gradient are something to respect (3600m high). It can be very windy at the top (so strong it blew my sunglasses off - and down the mountain they went).

There are cable cars going up in stages. At the top there is an ice cavern to visit. At the summit you can see the ice crevasses and wonder how many skiers and trekkers fell down one never to be seen again.
